A simple housewife’s special empanada business has transformed from a small-time business to a popular shop in Alfonso, Cavite; which earns thousands of pesos per day.
Haydee Cetro shared on social media her sentiments via a Facebook post. “6 years ago when I started to make empanada for my hubby’s baon for work.. I never thought that from baon lang sa opisina, magkakaron kami ng pangkabuhayan na pwedeng tumagal for life.”
She also expressed her gratitude to their Team. “Maraming salamat sa lahat ng bumubuo ng Empanada ahuy Team from day 1 up to present. Arby and I really appreciate all of you.. Maraming salamat sa inyong malasakit sa Empanada Ahuy.” <3
“And Syempre, sa aming beloved customers, maraming salamat po sa patuloy na suporta at pagtangkilik sa ating munting Empanadahan. 🙂
The Empanada Biz
Haydee of Empanada Ahuy shared how her successful business started via a GMA feature on Pera Paraan, Haydee disclosed that the first happy customers of her empanadas were her family. When she received positive feedback, she decided to sell it online and to her husband’s co-workers.
Admittedly, she didn’t have a big capital when she started her business. Believe it or not, but she only started with P250 as startup money. Amazingly, her determination and hardwork paid off as she began earning more and more. The time even came when she started earning over P10,000 a day from the sales of her empanadas.
She even recalled that that her initial target was to sell 10 boxes or 150 pieces. In November of last year her business Empanada Ahuy was already selling more than 500 pieces per day. She also shared that they were even able to sell over 750 in a day.
Looking back, Haydee recalled that she didn’t even have a rolling pin when she was just starting. Having a rolling pin was an important tool in making empanada dough. Instead of being disheartened, Haydee improvised and used a bottle.
Because of her hardwork and dedication to creating different fillings, orders started coming in and she managed to open a store in front of their residence. Well, the rest is history. Her store also got orders from outside of Cavite.
With pride, she narrated that she used to cook only for her husband and kids.
“Ngayon, buong Alfonso na. Isama na din natin ang Tagaytay, Indang, Mendez, Bailen, Dasma, at Laguna. Marami pong salamat sa inyong lahat at sa lahat ng sumusuporta sa Empanada Ahuy Since day one,” Haydee said.
Indeed, her perseverance paid off. Her advice to those who plan to start their own business is that you don’t need a huge capital to start the ball rolling. What you need is “malaking sipag at tiyaga.” Otherwise, you’ll just end with giving up.
Take note also that they now have an ” Empanada Ahuy Food Truck” which roves around. Just check their FB page to get updates with regards to schedules.
