Ice Seguerra reveals losing savings as a child star in a scam

Back in the 90s, Aiza was a household name and was seen on both small and big screens. Anyone would have thought that he had his future all settled because of the huge earnings he got as a child star.

Unfortunately, it didn’t go as expected. Even worse, Ice lost it due to a scam. The singer-actor-songwriter shared the experience of losing his savings years ago. Ice said that a person close to their family tricked them into losing their money while they were renovating their house.

Ice said in an article by the Manila Bulletin, “Walang savings. Naloko kami. Hindi kami naloko sa business. But there was a time nuon na nagpa-renovate kami ng bahay. Na-gancho kami ng isang tao na akala namin kamag-anak. We trusted this person so much. So we let the person handled the finances. Only to find out na nalimas na pala yung pera sa bangko. So that happened.”

Ice revealed that the unfortunate incident happened when he was still a teenager. It was so devastating to the family, and they tried to keep it private for some time.

“That time it was hard to recover na. I was a teenager so yung mga napag-ipunan ko nuong kabataan ko nadale. Nuong teenager ako wala naman akong career but I never stopped working. Hindi nga ako naglove team,” he continued.

While his father was still working, a big part of Ice felt bad that he couldn’t contribute to the family’s finances. Even during the pandemic, Ice felt the same weight of responsibility to help provide for his family.

He said, “But then when the bills started coming in, dun ko na feel na wala akong kwenta kasi wala ako naipapasok na pera sa amin. As a breadwinner, it was a big part of my identity. Kapag hindi magagampanun yun, napaka worthless kong tao.”

In 2019, Ice admitted that he had been battling depression while growing up. Despite it, he uses music to fight depression and continues to seek medical help.
