Teacher lauds chief, policemen who enrolled boy living alone to put him on the right track

“You give me hope, the strength the will to keep on…”

This is probably the song that a young boy is hearing from his heart after some kind officers offered him a new lease in life by taking him in and even enrolling him in school so he could pursue his education and have a better chance for his future.

A Teacher Touched by a Kind Act

“I need to share this!!” — such was the beginning line of a SPED teacher from Buyos Elementary School in Sindangan, Zamboanga Del Norte who posted a heartwarming story on Facebook recently.

Apparently, teacher Cyrell Jones Sidlao or “Teacher CJ” couldn’t help but take notice of two police officers who went to their school; not to promote peace and order but to enroll a young boy.

Teacher CJ initially wondered why these policemen had to ‘escort’ the young boy instead of the usual companions of students like parents or elder relatives.

“Nagpunta sa school namin ang PNP Sindangan to enrol this learner. I asked them kung bakit sila ang nag-enrol sa bata. I just found out na wala na palang parents na masasandalan, walang mapuntahan & napariwara,” he shared in his post.

The boy, apparently, had been living alone, with nowhere to go and no one to look after him, so the PNP Sindangan stepped in and decided they will take the boy under their care and stewardship to somehow give the boy a direction in life.

“So PNP Sindangan decided na sila ang magkupkop sa bata. Magsilbing magulang para paaralin, alagaan at ituwid ang kaniyang buhay (heart emoji). Nakakataba ng Puso! Saludo ako sa inyo Sindangan Municipal Police Personnel headed by Sir Mario Manipo,” Teacher CJ shared with joy in his heart learning about the move to help the kid.

Teacher CJ learned that the kid no longer has anyone to take care of him after his father passed away and his mother already has a new family. Hence, he was so touched that a new life awaits the poor boy.

“Thank you for choosing Buyos Elementary School. Rest assured that I will teach him moral values & proper education. Mabuhay kayo!” Teacher CJ thanked the officers.

Teacher CJ also learned that it was PLTCOL Mario Manipon, the chief of police there, who initiated the decision to take in the boy and asked the two officers – namely, PSSg. Rogelio M. Canton, Jr. and PSSg. Archie M. Tumilap – to attend to the boy’s enrollment for starters.

The Chief, he said, deemed it would be better for the child to have a proper education.

“Kuwento po nila, yumao na raw po ang ama ng bata, at ang ina naman ay may iba nang pamilya. May mga kaanak naman ang bata pero mas pinili raw umano nitong gumala-gala at mamuhay mag-isa,” Teacher CJ further shared.

Salute to these officers who go beyond their call of duty!

Meanwhile, the netizen who shared this story is the same teacher from Zamboanga Del Norte who spent P20,000 out of his own pocket to transform an old storage room into a beautiful classroom for his students last year.

The classroom is supposed to be the students’ second home so it was an act worth appreciation. Kudos, too, Sir CJ!
