A mother who turned 77 years old was hugely surprised by her seven children with a whooping half million pesos as gift, aside from the party celebration.
“Deserve nyo po ito Inay,” daughter Sherwin Mulingtapang posted earlier this year.
She further narrated, “Surprising our Inay with half million pesos for her birthday. Yes, we know na hindi basis ang money to show our love, we just wanted to surprise her.”
Apparently, they planned a grand celebration but they had to cancel because of the Taal eruption. But they are so proud of their mom who’s kind not only to her family but also to others who were gravely affected by the natural calamity.
“Di pa rin natutuloy ang engrandeng birthday mo na nacancel because of Taal Eruption. But that time pinakita mo na hindi ka lang mabuting ina para sa amin kundi pati na rin sa mga ilang nasalanta ng pagputok ng bulkan.
MAHAL NA MAHAL po namin kayo inay. Kulang pa yan sa mga ginawa mo para sa amin,” she further shared; giving us a clue as to how wonderful their mother is.
It was on the last week of January that Sherwin shared a video clip of their Nanay Belen’s 77th birthday celebration in Lemery, Batangas which they had planned in advance. Their story went viral again, probably because of Mother’s Day.
Having your family around to celebrate with is already a blessing that every parent is thankful for. Notice how bouncy and alive their mother is at the start of the video. It is so visible how having her family there already lifts her spirit.
The sumptious food, gifts and surprises are just bonuses which make the party more memorable and fun though.
Imagine being surprised with two money cakes, two boxes filled with cash, two money bouquets and a money umbrella! Nanay Belen received a whooping Php500K from her grateful and loving children and she was smiling a lot the whole time!
In a post by GO Batangas Facebook page, Sherwin had reportedly shared that they “believe pa rin naman na it’s not the monetary value na makakapagpasaya sa kanya, pero kahit papaano masurprise man lang siya, masiyahan siya.”
She admitted that it’s not the monetary value that will make their mother happy; rather, it’s the element of ‘surprise’ that makes her ecstatic.
She also added that while others would chip in to complete the P77K for her 77th birthday, she and her siblings agreed on each one giving the same amount as all of them could afford it anyway. They made sure to come up with different ways of presenting their cash gift.
Giving back to our parents and even grandparents is truly a Filipino way of showing our love to our elders, especially to those parents who sacrificed so much for the bright future of their children.
We’ve seen and heard of stories where parents are gifted by their children with their own house, a car, an appliance or gadget, or a grand celebration of birthdays or anniversaries. It’s because of gratitude and love; whichever comes first.
