Dubai-based Filipino artist Arvie Valencia hand-painted the beautiful waves of Northern Lights or the Aurora Borealis right on the couture gowns of Michael Cinco.
The bright and captivating Northern Lights shone brightly on the catwalk for Michael Cinco’s “The Impalpable Dream of Peace” collection. It was made possible by the 30-year-old Pinoy digital artist Arvie and his co-artist, Els Bach, who hand-painted the aurora borealis in Cinco’s gowns using luminescent paints.
Arvie shared that it took them days to finish the painting on the massive sheets of gown following the vision of Cinco. To make it more stunning on the catwalk, the dark couture gowns were glow-in-the-dark during their showcase during the Arab Fashion Week last March 26, 2022.
“It took me and my co-artist, Ms. Els Bach, three to four days to finish painting the massive sheets of the gowns as beautifully envisioned by Mr. Michael Cinco as part of his couture collection,” he shared on Philstar.
Being a huge fan of Michael Cinco
According to Arvie, aside from creating the amazing gowns, it was also an exciting experience to personally meet Cinco during the fashion show.
On Facebook, Arvie shared how excited he was to work with Cinco saying that he’s a huge fan.
He wrote, “Still can’t believe that I had the amazing experience to HAND-PAINT ON COUTURE BALL GOWNS for no other than MICHAEL CINCO, and it was showcased as one of the highlights of his fashion show for Arab Fashion Week (Fall-Winter Collection 22/23)!”
“It was simply overwhelming. Being a huge fan, I’ve always wanted to meet and take a photo with Mr. #MichaelCinco before, but I never thought that the first time I’m gonna meet him in person is also the time that I’ll be given the wonderful opportunity to collaborate on a project for his upcoming show,” he added.
Arvie said the experience was “magical” and totally a “dream-come-true” for him.
